Preservation of Rare Animaal and Rare Plant

The diversity of living beings also referred to as biodiversity. Indonesian biodiversity is one of the highest diversity in the world. Because Indonesia is located in the tropics, which has high rainfall and fertile volcanic soil. Diversity is not only found in the mainland, but also in the waters.

Some types of organisms found only in certain areas, called Organisms Endemism. Endemism among the many animals that are rare and endangered species. Examples of Animals Endemism: Jalak Bali, Badak bercula satu, Monkey, Tarsius, Kukang, Maleo, and the Komodo. Examples of Endemic Plants: Rafflesia, which only appears at certain times in the forests of Sumatra, Java, and Borneo.

In the forest flora and fauna that have properties that handed down - from generation to generation. Among the properties were also successfully cultivated (Example: Rice plant, Rubber plant, Chicken, Ducks, and Goats). However, most of the flora and fauna are found naturally in the forest. Therefore, the forest should be conserved for its role as a warehouse Plasm Nutfah (plasm seed).

The following described examples of the type of diversity in Indonesia.

1. In Sumatra, Java and Borneo and surrounding islands have a variety of flora and fauna of the Oriental type. Oriental type is the type of Asia. Within this area many large animals are found, for example, Elephant, Rhino, Tiger and Bull. There are 13 types of primates such as orangutans, apes, monkeys, and tarsier. An animal fauna Endemism is Orang Utan, Rhino, Binturong (a sort of small bear), and Kukang. Birds Oriental types have a less attractive color but has a melodious voice.

2. In Eastern Indonesia, namely Papua and Maluku, there are various types of flora and fauna of Australia type. Traits of animals in this area is the small mammals. In this region there are Kangaroos, Primitive Primates, and The Beautiful Feathered Bird (Birds of Paradise and Cockatoo).

3. Among the Oriental and Australian type is the type of Transition, the fauna that live in Sulawesi, Lombok, and Nusa Tenggara. The transition type called because the animals that there is a transition between the type of the Oriental and Australian types. Example: Anoa, Babi Rusa and Tarsius.
